BhavNil Chemicals Private Limited's Orange Silica Gel - Beads

What is silica gel, and how does it work?

Silica gel is a solid, porous, and reusable desiccant that can be used to shield your valuables from moisture loss by lowering humidity levels to below 30% (within enclosed spaces) and avoiding mould, mildew, and rust forming. Unlike certain other desiccants, silica gel does not absorb moisture and does not get damp or balloon in size. It's all non-corrosive, odourless, chemically inert, and produces no waste. In addition, before requiring reactivation, our silica gel will retain up to 1/3 of its weight in moisture.

What does the colour orange mean when it comes to silica gel?

This kind of silica gel includes an orange signalling dye that can eventually turn dark green to signal when the silica gel is finished and no longer able to retain moisture until reactivated – there are no limits to how many times it can be reactivated.

Inhalation of dust produced by orange silica gel should be avoided at all costs to prevent any dangers. All kinds of silica gel should be kept out of sight of children and should not be consumed (may pose as a choking hazard). Since this silica gel is not FDA approved, it is not recommended for use with fruit.

Instructions for reactivation: After the orange silica gel has turned dark green, reactivate as follows: Heat the silica gel beads for 3-4 hours in an oven at 105° to 115°C. Allow the beads to cool completely before storing them in an airtight jar before you're able to use them again.
